History of the Gottsche Foundation |
|
|
William H. and Carrie Gottsche
were sheep
ranchers, butchers and finally bankers in Rock Springs, Wyoming. Their
daughter was stricken with polio and treated over much of the world, but
they felt she gained more from treatment in the Hot Springs Park Pools.
Because of this, they left money to build a rehabilitation center in
Thermopolis.
Thermopolis, Wyoming was selected as the ideal building site for the center, because of its wonderful mineral hot springs and the proven relief it gave their daughter Marguerite. The bequest stipulated it be modeled after the Warm Springs, Georgia facility. |

The William
H. and Carrie Gottsche Foundation was incorporated March 28th, 1954.
This corporation was established to maintain a non-profit health
foundation to provide diagnosis and treatment for crippling conditions
for children and adults. Treatment was to be given without
discrimination on the grounds of race, color and creed or ability to
pay. All of the professionals at Gottsche utilize a team approach for evaluation and setting goals. The staff is used to "Making It Happen" and "Making a Difference" in our patients lives. |
